Robusta Coffee Beans are a hardy plant therefore they are used more in a plantation atmosphere then there cousins such as the Arabica.
Many of the bulk coffees that you find on the shelfs in your local supermarket are of this variety of coffee. Because of the plants hardiness and ability to thrive in diverse conditions it is a staple of the largest coffee growers in the world. The downside is that although producers of products derived from Robusta plants offer a steady, uninterrupted supply of beans to merchants their use of chemical fertilizers remain a problem for the author of this site.
However, there are some exceptions to this rule so it’s not fair to say that all importers of Robusta beans are employing the use of chemical pesticides just the vast majority.
One of the other reasons that Robusta beans are so prevalent in todays market, particularly in the United States, is the relatively high caffeine content of the beans produce by most varieties of Robusta plants. This is seen in the espressos sold at most of todays coffee chain coffee giants.
